My background

I have been working locally and nationally and wider in Europe to do what I could to help implement local high speed networks and services since 1994, when I first found out about how community networks in the US and Australia were using technology to bring people together.

LightSpeed Local

The aim of this site is to support the development of successful local next generation  access networks by providing a place where people involved in running or setting up initiatives can share experiences, debate issues and find useful information.

The site will be pragmatic and unbiased with a focus on collaboration to help build the market.

I believe that:

• Next generation broadband is vital for the economic success of the UK
• The best way to implement next generation broadband nationally is city by city, town by town, neighbourhood by neighbourhood
• This approach also brings the greatest benefits to each locality
• Information sharing can help to eliminate the inefficiencies that come from small scale initiatives
